SOCIAL MINISTRY COMMITTEE
Serve in response to God’s love to meet human needs; caring for the sick and the aged; advocating dignity and justice for all people; working for peace and reconciliation among the nations; standing with the poor and powerless, and committing oneself to their needs.
1. OUTREACH TO CONFINED MEMBERS
All of the tasks listed under this category represent ways in which members of Trinity care for one another.
A. Shut-In – Our shut-in members would enjoy a visit from a fellow member for sharing and support
B. Convalescing/Recuperating Members – Often people recently discharged from the hospital and recuperating from an illness or accident need some help for the first week or so. Those tasks needed most often are listed on the Response Form.
C. General Ministries to Confined Members – Take worship flowers on Sunday to hospitalized and/pr confined members; remember confined members with cards during hospitalizations and on birthdays and holidays; perform repair chores on an as-needed basis for members who are unable; provide transportation on an as-needed basis, prepare food for families in crisis and deliver it to them.
2. OUTREACH INTO COMMUNITY
Annual In-gathering – Each year congregations throughout our synod gather gifts and monies for distribution to community agencies and organizations at Christmas. People are needed to help collect and sort the gifts given by members of Trinity.
3. PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
This group invites all crocheter’s, knitters and sewers to come together to make Prayer Shawls that are given to other to fill a need, provide comfort of blessing. The warmth, love and compassion of this ministry are astounding. This group meets in the library.
